Making Memories with a Family Game Night Tin
As kids, whenever our family went on a camping trip, we would bring this old Jack Daniels tin filled with games that we would play after dinner, with the sun setting in the distance. I have a lot of great memories of those camping trips. This game-tin has become one of our most cherished family traditions and something I hope to share with my family someday.
Years later, when my sister was getting married, I decided to put a game-tin together for their wedding gift.
For sentimental reasons, I started looking for a Jack Daniels No. #7 Tennessee Whiskey tin similar to my parents (minus the faint scent of weed ;P). eBay has a great selection.
You could also use a vintage lunch box, basket, or wooden box with a hinged lid.
Next, I gathered all of our favorite games, only those games that are compact and will travel well. Cards and Yahtzee are our family favorites. I also included UNO, dominos, and poker chips. I found boxes of old scorecards for Yahtzee and added colored pencils.
This game-tin would make for a great family Christmas gift with the addition of popcorn, peanuts, and chocolate-covered pretzels. Below you will find a shopping list so that you can create a game-tin of your own (memories not included 😉 ). I hope it gives your family as many great memories as it has mine. Enjoy!
